Set up a Premium Matrix

Security Note: You need the Allow the user to edit premium matrixes security right in the Marketing user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the Premium Matrix Editor.
  2. To create a premium matrix:
    1. Right-click in the Premium Matrixes table and select New from the menu.
    2. Update the Name if required.
    3. Enter a Description if required.
    4. Complete the following fields.
      • Material Type—Select from the material types defined on the Material panel of the Solution Explorer.
      • Currency—Select from the currencies defined in the Currency/Exchange Editor.
      • UOM—Select from the Mass units defined in the Unit Conversion Editor.
      • Tier Basis—Select from:
        • None (default)—Enter a value for each premium matrix rate.
        • Price—Enter values for multiple tiers. You can also enter a value for each premium matrix rate.
      • Decimal Places—Number of decimal places for the values in the premium matrix rate. If no number of decimal places is specified, no rounding occurs.
  3. To delete a premium matrix, right-click the premium matrix and select Delete from the menu.
  4. To enter rates for a premium matrix:
    1. Select a premium matrix in the Premium Matrixes table.
    2. Right-click in the Premium Matrix Rates table and select New from the menu.
    3. Select a Start Date.
    4. Select an End Date if required.
    5. If the Tier Basis is None, enter a Spot Value and Forward Value for the rate, in the Currency and UOM of the premium matrix.

      The spot value is used if the reference date is less than or equal to 3 months later than the current date. The reference date is the bill of lading date or the first available date out of the ATD at loading, ETD at loading, ATA at loading, ETA at loading or the planned despatch date. For charges related to mark-to-market (MTM) calculations, the reference date is the MTM reference date specified on the despatch order or in the contract.

      The forward value is used if the reference date is more than 3 months later than the current date. The reference date is the bill of lading date or the first available date out of the ATD at loading, ETD at loading, ATA at loading, ETA at loading or the planned despatch date. For charges related to MTM calculations, the reference date is the MTM reference date specified on the despatch order or in the contract.

    6. If the Tier Basis is Price, enter a Value for the rate, in the Currency and UOM of the premium matrix.

      For contract charges configured with the Value Type of Premium Matrix, this value is only applicable if Use Premium Matrix Tier is unchecked.

    7. Complete the following fields to limit the applicability of the rate as required.
      • States/Provinces—Select from the provinces and states for any enabled country in the Country Editor.
      • Locations—Limit the rate to contract charges for despatch orders (DOs) with a matching location:
        • Purchase DOs—Loading location from the despatch or Planned Loading Location of the DO
        • Sales DOs—Unloading location from the despatch or Planned Unloading Location of the DO
        • Mark-to-market snapshots—The first available location out of: MTM Location of the DO; MTM Location of the set of mark-to-market terms; or unloading location for purchase DOs and loading location for sales DOs

        Select from the despatch locations defined on the Supply Chain panel of the Solution Explorer. Despatch locations are rail sidings, truck despatch locations, barge terminals and port locations.

      • Products—Select from the products defined on the Material panel of the Solution Explorer and that match the selected Material Type.
      • Brands—Select from the brands defined on the Material panel of the Solution Explorer and that match the selected Material Type.
      • Qualities—Limit the rate to contract charges for DOs with a Quality that is one of the selected qualities. (The Quality is specified on the Details tab of the Despatch Order.) Select from the products and brands defined on the Material panel of the Solution Explorer and that match the selected Material Type.
      • Market—Select from the markets defined in the Market/Commodity Editor.
      • Delivery Terms—Select from the delivery terms defined in the Delivery Term Editor.
      • Duties—Select from the Duty list items defined in the List Editor.
      • Package Shapes—Select from the Package Shape list items defined in the List Editor.
  5. To delete a rate, right-click the rate and select Delete from the menu.
  6. To enter tiers for a premium matrix rate:
    1. Select a rate in the Premium Matrix Rates table.
    2. Update the Currency and UOM for the tiers if required.
    3. Select the Tier Calculation Method. Method to evaluate the tier group. Select from:
      • Accumulative To Base Tier—Return the Value/Step from the tier that results from moving from the tier input point towards the value specified as the Base Tier. That is, if the value is above the base tier then it is calculated from the highest to the base tier; and if the value is below the base tier, it is calculated from the lowest to the base tier.
      • Accumulative—Return the Value/Step that is the sum of all tiers from the first tier up to the tier in which the input value resides.
      • Weighted Average—Return the weighted average of all tiers.
      • Single Value—Determine which tier matches the input value. Return that tier's Value/Step.
    4. Create tiers for the tier group:
      1. Right-click in the bottom table and select New from the menu for the required number of tiers.
      2. Complete the following fields for each tier level.
        • Applicable From—Lower limit of the range of the tier. If there is more than one tier, Applicable To is Applicable From for the next tier.

          Tip: It can be easier to enter the Applicable From values starting with the bottom tier in the table.

        • Value—Output value of the tier.
        • Step—Number by which to divide the output Value.
        • Include Start—Whether the tier evaluation is to be > or ≥ to the Applicable From value.

        MineMarket updates the Tier Summary. If the input value falls within the summary, the tier Value/Step is returned as the tier result.

      3. If the Tier Calculation Method is Accumulative to Base Tier, check Base Tier for one tier level.
    5. To delete a tier level, right-click the tier level and select Delete from the menu.
  7. Click Save.
