Enter Tiers for a Contract Rate

Security Note: You need the Allow contract maintenance security right in the Contracts domain security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the Service Contract or Freight Contract.
  2. Select the Contract Rates tab.
  3. Select the contract rate.
  4. Select the Tier Groups tab.
  5. Create a tier group:
    1. Right-click in the top table and select New from the menu.
    2. Complete the following fields.
      • Name—Name of the tier group for the contract rate.
      • Tier Basis—Basis for the input value of the tier evaluation. Select from Wet Mass, Dry Mass, Gross Mass, By Number of Packages, By Number of Package Groups, By Number of Package Units and By Number of Containers.
      • UOM—Unit of measure associated with the input value of the tier evaluation. Select from the Mass units defined in the Unit Conversion Editor.
      • Currency—This field does not have any impact on service or freight rates based only on a quantity of material. Select from the currencies defined in the Currency/Exchange Editor.
      • Value Basis—Basis for calculating the quantity by which to multiply by the output value of the tier evaluation. Select from the same options as are available for Rate Detail Basis. See Contract Rates for descriptions of these options.
      • Value UOM—Unit of measure associated with the output value of the tier evaluation. Select from the Mass units defined in the Unit Conversion Editor.
      • Value Currency—Currency associated with the output value of the tier evaluation. Select from the currencies defined in the Currency/Exchange Editor.
      • Value Step—This field does not have any impact on calculations.
      • Tier Method—Method to group multiple rate details. Select from None, By Period, By Period Total, By Contract and By Contract Total. Example: If By Period is selected, all amounts are added in a period. That is, the first delivery for one sales contract is added to the second delivery for the next sales contract, and so on. An adjustment is then calculated back across the contracts if it is pushed into the next costing level in the tier.
      • Tier Calculation Method—Method to evaluate the tier group. Select from:
        • Accumulative To Base Tier—Return the Value from the tier that results from moving from the tier input point towards the value specified as the Base Tier. That is, if the value is above the base tier then it is calculated from the highest to the base tier; and if the value is below the base tier, it is calculated from the lowest to the base tier.
        • Accumulative—Return the Value that is the sum of all tiers from the first tier up to the tier in which the input value resides.
        • Weighted Average—Return the weighted average of all tiers.
        • Single Value—Determine which tier matches the input value. Return that tier's Value.
  6. Create tiers for the tier group:
    1. Right-click in the bottom table and select New from the menu for the required number of tiers.
    2. Complete the following fields for each tier level.
      • Applicable From—Lower limit of the range of the tier. If there is more than one tier, Applicable To is Applicable From for the next tier.

Tip: It can be easier to enter the Applicable From values starting with the bottom tier in the table.

      • Value—Output value of the tier.
      • Include Start—Whether the tier evaluation is to be > or ≥ to the Applicable From value.

MineMarket updates the Tier Summary. If the input value falls within the summary, the tier Value is returned as the tier result.

    3. If the Tier Calculation Method is Accumulative to Base Tier, check Base Tier for one tier level.
  7. Click Save.
