Edit Journal Entries for a Hedged Profit or Loss Amount

Full journal entries can only be edited if the configuration of the applicable accounts on the Chart Of Accounts screen allows journal editing.

The following journal types cannot be edited:

  • Grouped journals (that is, if multiple journal entries have the same account number)
  • Incremental journals (that is, any journal where the Journal Reversal Method is Incremental)
  • Reversed and reversal journals
  • Locked journals

Security Note: You need the Allow the user to edit journal entries security right in the Accounting user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the Hedging Explorer.
  2. Select the Hedge Actions tab.
  3. Find the required hedge position. See Find Hedge Positions.
  4. Select (that is, highlight) the hedge position in the Hedge Actions table.
  5. Select the Journals tab.
  6. Ensure that the Journal Reversal Method is Full Reversal.
  7. Edit the journal entries in the Journal Entries field group as required.

Secondary currency journal entries are automatically converted if the journal was generated from the same currency as the valuation or settlement. For example, if the hedging valuation or settlement was generated in USD and the primary currency of the journal is also USD, the secondary currency journal entry is converted (but can still be edited).

However, if the valuation or settlement is generated in CAD, the primary currency of the journal is in USD and the secondary currency is AUD, then no conversion occurs because the secondary value needs to be converted from CAD but was overwritten in USD. In that situation, journal entries in both currencies must be edited manually.

  8. To view an original journal entry as a tooltip, hover the mouse pointer over the edited entry.
  9. Click Save.
