Create a Billboard Chart

Security Note: You need the Allow billboard chart maintenance security right in the Billboards domain security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Select the Reporting panel in the Solution Explorer.
  2. Expand the Billboard Chart Categories node.
  3. Right-click a billboard chart category and select New » Billboard Chart from the menu.

    The Billboard Chart (configuration) displays.

  4. Update the name of the billboard chart node if required.
  5. Configure the billboard chart data similarly to configuring billboard data, noting that the Query String should use a drop-down static billboard variable.
  6. Select the Configuration tab.
  7. Configure the chart axes:
    1. Select the Axis sub-tab.
    2. Select the data to be used for the X Axis from the columns in the select clause of the SQL query.
    3. Update the following details for each column on the Y-axis.
      • Show Column—Whether the column is to be plotted on the Y-axis of the billboard chart.
      • Column Name—Select from columns in the select clause of the SQL query.
  8. Configure the chart properties if required:
    1. Select the Properties sub-tab.
    2. Update the following Appearance settings as required.
      • BackColour—Colour used to display the billboard chart background.
      • BackGradientEndColour—Gradient end colour, if the chart is to have a background gradient colour.
      • BackGradientType—Type of back colour gradient for the billboard chart.
      • BackgroundImageLayout—Method of laying out the image, if the chart is to have a background image.
      • BackHatchStyle—Style of hatching, if the chart is to have a background hatch pattern.
      • BackImage—Image displayed in the chart background.
      • BackImageAlign—Alignment of the image, if the chart is to have a background image.
      • BackImageMode—Method used to display the image, if the chart is to have a background image.
      • BackImageTransColor—Colour used to transpose the image, if the chart is to have a background image.
      • BorderLineColour—Line colour, if the chart is to have a border line.
      • BorderLineStyle—Style of chart border line to be used.
      • BorderLineWidth—Line width, if the chart is to have a border line.
      • BorderSkin—Skin style, if the chart is to have a border line.
      • Cursor—Style of cursor, if the billboard chart uses a wait cursor.
      • Palette—Palette used for the billboard chart.
      • RightToLeft—Whether the billboard chart displays right-to-left.
      • Text—Name of the chart placed on the billboard chart.
      • UnusedColour—Colour used to display unused areas on the billboard chart.
      • UseWaitCursor—Whether to use a wait cursor for the billboard chart.
    3. Update the following Chart settings as required.
      • ChartAreas—Collection of areas on the chart.
      • Legends—Collection of legends on the chart.
      • Series—Collection of series on the chart.
      • Titles—Collection of titles on the chart.
    4. Update the following Image settings as required.
      • AntiAliasing—Whether the billboard chart uses anti-aliasing for Text, Graphics or All.
      • SoftShadows—Whether soft shadows display for images on billboard charts.
  9. Click Save.
