Test an Expression Using the Expression Editor
Only tested expressions display in the Expression Library when the Expression Editor is opened from within a contract.
Values that otherwise would only be available during invoicing (such as assays or weights) can be entered to test the expression.
Security Note: You need the Allow the user to maintain expressions security right in the Expression Editor user group security rights group for this activity.
Activity Steps
- Open the Expression Editor.
- Create an expression. See Create an Expression Using the Expression Editor.
- Select the Test Expression tab.
- Click Refresh.
The functions used in the expression display.
- Enter the Return Value for each required function. If the function requires a date range, enter both dates.
- Click Evaluate.
The outcome displays in the Result area. Any errors must be fixed before the expression can be assigned.
- Select the Expression Library tab.
- If the active expression was totally new or edited, add it to the Expression Library:
- Select the category into which the expression is to be placed.
- Right-click and select Add Expression from the menu.
- Check Tested Expression.
- Close the Expression Editor.
- Click Save.
