Upload data with the Logsheet Data Uploader

Note: Logsheet data uploads may be configured to use the Logsheet Service or the Transaction Service. This activity assumes that the data upload is via the Logsheet Service.

The Logsheet Data Uploader is customised based on the logsheet structures in your Production Accounting configuration. Generally, the file has the following worksheets:

  • Settings—Details of the Production Accounting environments and the connection strings for the database server. If the database server is changed, the server name can be updated here.
  • Data—Enter and send the data for upload. Data is uploaded to logsheets based on the set ID, log time and attribute ID. If a file requires multiple data sheets, the sheets are renamed. For example, a file to upload budget and forecast data may have two worksheets, named Budget and Forecast.
  • Help—Reference list for logsheet set IDs and attribute IDs.

Note: To access and use the Logsheet Data Uploader, your computer must be on the same network as the Production Accounting database server.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the Logsheet Data Uploader file from its saved location.
  2. Select the Settings worksheet tab.
  3. Enter the name of the Environment to which to upload the data if required.
  4. Select the Data worksheet tab.
  5. Enter the data to be uploaded. Enter one value per row.
    • LogTime—The start time of the period for the data; for example, the shift or day start time. Use the required format for your logsheet configuration (for example, YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss or DD-MM-YYYY hh:mm:ss) and the 24-hour time convention. For example, to upload data to a shift that starts at 6:00 PM on 15 June 2024, enter 2024-06-15 18:00:00 or 15-06-2024 18:00:00.
    • Set ID—Enter the ID of the logsheet to which to upload the data.
    • Attribute ID—Enter the ID of the attribute to which to upload the data. The attribute ID indicates the logsheet subsection item the data value is for.

Note: The Help worksheet has a logsheet reference list with set IDs and attribute IDs. You can copy set IDs and attribute IDs to the Data worksheet as required. If you manually enter or paste set IDs and attribute IDs from another source, you can validate them against the Production Accounting configuration:

      1. Select the SetID and Attribute ID for one row only.
      2. Click the Help button.

The Help table on the Data worksheet displays either the details of a validated result or a Not found message.

    • Value—Enter numeric values only.
    • Category—Not required.
    • Unit—Not required.
    • Comment—Enter text. Displays in the logsheet as an audit comment. See View logsheet data.
  6. Click Send Data.

Data is validated within the file. Error messages display if the validation fails. If validation is successful, the data is sent for upload via the IMS Integration Hub.
