Create Orientation Sets

Orientation sets contain sets of discontinuities that have similar orientation in terms of dip angle/dip direction or trend/plunge.

To create orientation sets, you must have created an analysis set. See Create an Analysis Set.

Activity Steps

1. Select the analysis set in the Project Tree.

   Note: To create the orientation sets, the selected analysis set must have at least 12 discontinuities, with at least two orientations. The Create Orientation Sets option is only enabled when the analysis set meets these prerequisites.

2. Open the Analysis menu.
3. Select Create Orientation Sets in the Analysis menu group.

   The Create Orientation Sets window displays.

4. Set the Number of Orientation Sets. Default: 3.
5. Select whether to Remove Outliers.
6. Set the Max orientation between discontinuities in degrees. Default: 20.
7. Click Ok.

   New orientation sets display under the Orientation Sets branch in the Project Tree.
