Read OGR Data

This screen displays when importing string or point data using the Common Vectors Driver Category. Also see Common Vectors - Supported Data Types.

Activity steps

  1. Review the File Information:
    • Filename
    • 2D Bounds - the lower left and top right maximum extents of the data to be imported if displayed in plan view.
    • Features - the number of independent entities in the file.
    • Projection - the current projection of the data (if present) in OpenGIS Well Known Text (WKT) format.
  2. Data may be divided into separate groups, known as Layers, and listed as separate items in this pane. The geometry in each layer may have multiple data attributes.

Select the layers to import. Default: all checked.

  3. All attributes found in any selected layer are in the Data Fields list. Select the attributes to import. Default: all checked.
  4. GIS data is commonly 2D, having only X and Y axes specified. Since this will be converted into 3D data, the Default elevation for 2D Data can be defined either as a constant, or inherited from a data attribute. 3D data is unaffected.
    • Constant: define a fixed Z (elevation) value for all imported data points (default).
    • Use Field: select a Data Field containing elevation data with which to elevate the imported X and Y data points.
  5. Click OK.

  6. If importing a file to a Studio project, the Import Files screen displays.
  7. Use the Import Files screen:

    1. Choose which Files to create and associate with your project.

    2. Confirm the Import Fields for this operation.

    3. If required, choose how to Rename Fields during import.

    4. Click OK.

Files references are added to the project.
