Troubleshooting locked server-based licenses which cannot be checked-out

Locked Licence cannot be Checked-out

Prior to License Services Version 4.0, Build 1637, a client may occasionally be able to use a network license, but will not be allowed to check-out the license from the server. A "server not responding" message is displayed. This problem only occurs if the IP address of the License Server is specified in the Options dialog in the License Manager, rather than the name of the server.

This problem can be resolved in the following ways:

 

Upgrade License Services

Upgrade to Version 4.0, Build 1637 or later - recommended.

 

Enter the License Server name, rather than IP address

  1. In the License Managermain menu, selectTools | Remote Servers Options...
  2. In theOptionsdialog, select theRemote Serverstab.
  3. In theRemote Serverstab, ensure thatUse Remote Serversis selected.
  4. In theRemote Serverstab, click the IP address of the server, and clickRemove Remote Server.
  5. In theLicense Managerdialog, clickYes.
  6. In theRemote Serverstab, clickAdd Remote Server.
  7. In theRemote Serverstab,Serversbox, enter the name of the License Server.
  8. In theOptionsdialog, clickOK.
  9. In the License Managermain menu, selectView| Refresh.
