Create Ramp String

To access this dialog:

  • Solids  ribbon | Design | Tools | Create Ramp

  • Edit ribbon | Tools | More | Create Ramp

Draws a ramp string using a start point (selected interactively in the 3D window) and defined start azimuth, gradient, radius and other parameters.

Field Details:

If subtext is applicable (e.g. if you are describing a particular version of a dialog, or additional information about a particular section of a dialog is required, add it with the FieldSub class.

Start Azimuth: enter the initial azimuth for the new ramp string.

Gradient of string: enter a value here, in degrees, to project the new ramp string according to the value specified in the Azimuth dialog. Negative gradient values are permitted.

Ramp Type: select either a Straight ramp type or select Radius, and enter the Radius.

End Limit: select how you wish to limit the ramp length, using one of the following options, all of which can be applied in a Clockwise or Counter-clockwise context.

  • End Azimuth - limit the ramp length by it's end azimuth.

  • Half Circle - limit the ramp length to half circle,

  • Quarter Circle - limit the ramp length to a quarter circle,

Limit the ramp length to a specific length, where the distance can be measured in a Vertical or Horizontal direction, or along the current gradient of the string (Slope).

Segments: choose the resolution of points in your ramp curve by specifying either the Segments in a full circle (default = 40) or the Segment length. Segment length is always calculated based on the slope distance, not the horizontal distance.
