Formatting Strings
Strings consists of a sequence of points (vertex) connected by lines (edge). The vertices and edges can be formatted independently.
You can:
-
Change size or width of vertices and edges.
-
Color vertices and edges using different color legends.
-
Vary the color or texture of vertices and edges using trace attribute fields.
-
Hide either vertices, edges or both.
-
Annotate strings with a string attribute field.
When a string is initially loaded, it will not be displayed and colored using the default Datamine COLOUR field and default legend or the first appropriate field if this color field does not exist.
When a string is initially digitized, the default vertex (red ball) and edge (green cylinder) models are applied.
To change formatting options
-
In the Sheets control bar, double-click the string or right-click and select Properties.
-
In the String Properties dialog, modify the required parameters, click OK.
To apply default vertex or edge formatting
-
Turn on the rendering option in the Vertex Model or Edge Model boxes.
-
Make sure that no model is selected.
-
Ensure Legend color is turned off in the Colour box.
To apply vertex and edge models
-
Turn on the rendering option in the Vertex Model or Edge Model boxes.
-
Choose the browse button adjacent to the model box and select a model (.X) from the model library folder.
To apply color from a color legend
-
Turn on color rendering in the Colour box.
-
Select a string attribute field in the Colour Field box.
-
Select a suitable legend in the Colour Legend box.
You can turn on both model and color rendering together, for example, choose the Cube.x model in the Edge Model box, and render static drillholes by an attribute field - the drillhole will appear as a color rendered box (see samples below).
Here are some examples of how the same string can be rendered by selecting different vertex and edge models:

You can also
-
Change the diameter of the edge and vertex models with the Scale option.
-
Render strings with textures created from digital core photographs.
-
Change the font, style, size and color of string labels with the Options command from the Tools menu.
