Dump Evaluation

To access this screen:

  • Activate the Schedule ribbon and select Model >> Dumps >> Evaluate.

The Dump Evaluation screen is used to select a dump wireframe model, define evaluation parameters, generate dump block outlines and dump block wireframes, and then evaluate these blocks to calculate volumes.

The results are saved to file using the defined file names.

Note: The dump wireframe, required as input for the Dump Evaluation, is output by the Dump Design activity.

Using Cutting Strings And Planes

Using additional cutting planes allows you to specify additional planes, that is to the cutting planes that will be generated from the selected strings.

Typically the strings you select will cut across the lift and be projected vertically to cut all lifts.

Additional planes might then be used to split the lifts horizontally.

Outline Location

This defines where the outline string is positioned that is created for each new wireframe.

Typically this will be a mid height of the wireframe solid.

If the top or bottom is chosen then the average height of the upper or lower surface of the wireframe will be used.

Activity steps:

  1. Display the Dump Evaluation screen.
  2. In Object, select a dump wireframe object from the list.
  3. In Lift Field, select the lift number field (default LIFT) from the list.
    • To evaluate all lift values, select Use all values.
    • To evaluate one lift value, select Use one value, then enter a value.
  4. To use Vertical cutting strings for dump evaluation, first select the required vertical cutting string or strings in the 3D window before you finally click OK on this screen.
  5. To use Additional cutting planes when creating dump evaluation blocks, check Use additional cutting planes.
    • In Distance between planes, enter a value for the distance (units based on project settings) between planes.
    • In Azimuth, enter a value (degrees) for the azimuth (dip direction, measured clockwise from 0, that is North) of the cutting planes.
    • In Dip, enter a value (degrees) for the dip of the cutting planes.
    • In X, enter a value (units based on project settings) for the X-coordinate of a reference cutting plane.
    • In Y, enter a value (units based on project settings) for the Y-coordinate of a reference cutting plane.
    • In Z, enter a value (units based on project settings) for the Z-coordinate of a reference cutting plane.
  6. Define Block ID values:
    1. In Initial value, enter a value for the start Block ID.
    2. In Increment, enter a value for incrementing the Block ID value displayed in Initial value.
  7. Define your Output Objects:
    • In Name, define a base file name for the current dump evaluation.
    • Review Block definition (read-only) to confirm the definition file name generated from the defined dump name.
    • Review Block wireframe (read-only) to confirm the wireframe file name generated from the defined dump name.
    • Review Block outlines (read-only) to confirm the block outlines (strings) file name generated from the defined dump name.
      • To set the outline position at the top of each block, select Top.
      • To set the outline position at the middle of each block (default position), select Middle.
      • To set the outline position at the bottom of each block, select Bottom.
  8. Select OK to generate dump block outlines, evaluate, generate results, and close the screen.
