Description

Resolves points from one string onto those of another string within a defined tolerance.

How to Use

  1. Run the command - the Resolve Strings dialog will request a tolerance distance.

  2. Provide a value then <OK>. You will then be prompted from the status bar to "Select string on which to resolve points".

  3. Select the string. Any points on this string which lie within the tolerance distance of any points on another string, will be moved to coincide with the "other" string point. If no points are found within the tolerance distance then the string will remain unchanged.

note.gif (1017 bytes) A possible use is to remove digitizing errors from abutting perimeters  (e.g. geological outlines) ensuring that points match exactly. Another use is to produce an overall perimeter 'skin' around several intersecting perimeters. In this case a perimeter for resolution must be defined around the outside, conditioned so that it contains many points, then this command used with a large tolerance distance e.g. "+".
