Volume Under DTM

Create a volume that is the difference between 2 surfaces

Volume under DTM

To access this dialog:

  • Structure ribbon | Operations | DTMs | Solid Under DTM

  • Run the command wireframe-under-surface.

  • Use the quick key 'wus'

Creates a closed wireframe which surrounds the volume underneath the "Upper DTM" and above the "Lower DTM". The DTMs do not need to intersect, and any open edges will be filled in with vertical sides (similar to wireframe-surface-merge).

With this command, each DTM will be automatically extended (temporarily) if required in order to guarantee an intersection. This additional overhead will reduce the performance of the operation compared to its partner command wireframe-under-surface-intersecting which will be quicker for the same data but assumes a clean intersection of surfaces is already in place.

Once your objects have been selected (using the drop-down lists or picker tools), click OK to generate a volume.

Note: This command supports flexible wireframe selection.

Field Details:

This dialog contains the following fields:

Upper/Lower DTM: Select which data represents the Upper DTM (for example, the original, unmined topography). You can choose a loaded wireframe object, or preselected wireframe triangles using the Selected triangles option, committing the data to the command with the Store current selection button.

Output: you can output data either within the Current object, an existing wireframe object (pick it from the list) or a new object (type a new name).
