Rotating the view

The section orientation and the view direction can be set independently in any section or 3D view. By default, when the section view is created, the view direction is set at right angles to the section azimuth.

Sections may however be viewed from any direction.

3D views are fundamentally the same as all other section views with the exception that the view direction is not perpendicular to the section azimuth.

 

To change the view direction

Like the section orientation, the view direction can be changed by altering the values in the Properties control bar (to open press <Alt> + <1>).  

  1. Activate thePlot Viewribbon and selectView | Set and select the View Direction tab of the View Settings dialog.

  2. For Align to Section, select NO.

  3. Select a view direction (North-South, East-West) if appropriate or type in a new view Azimuth and DipInclination, or use the dial buttons to adjust the value.

  4. Click OK to apply the changes.

To align the view direction with the section definition

  • With the Plots window active, activate the Plot View ribbon and select View | Align or select [Yes] from the Align to Section drop-down list in the View Settings dialog.

To change the view direction by 180 degrees

  • With the Plots window active, activate the Plot View ribbon and select View | Flip .
