Variogam Parameters

Define structures and other variogram properties

Variogram Parameters

To access this dialog:

  • This panel is found on the Fit Models | Model Parameters tab.

  • This panel is found on the Review Variograms | Parameters tab.

The Parameters panel displays the information about the variogram set for the current estimation scenario. The variable in focus will be the selected item at the top of the panel. For example, for a multivariate estimation, the active variable is outlined, e.g. AU in the image below:

The Variogram set reference is set automatically and cannot be edited.

Rotation: this table shows the rotations for the anisotropy axes. The rotation axis(s) and angles are editable. To change the axis, you can select X,Y or Z axis from the Axis drop-down menu. The angle(s) can be between -360 and +360 degrees. Note that in the multivariate case all rotations and ranges will be the same.

Structures: The structure grid is provided to display and update the nugget and/or structures for the selected variogram model.

The structure-grid table contains the following columns:

  1. Nugget: the nugget value for the selected variogram.

  2. Structure: Displays Nugget or the structure number for the row. This column is non-editable.

  3. Model: Displays the vtype. The structure type can be changed using the drop-down list and can be [Spherical], [Gaussian] or [Exponential).

  4. RangeX, RangeY, RangeZ: The X,Y, Z ranges for the structure.

  5. Variance: this column shows the nugget value for each structure. It is editable and only accept numeric value.

Where multivariate variograms are selected,  if the nugget and/or sill matrices are not positive definite, a warning will be issued indicating the variogram is invalid and that sill and nugget matrices should be reviewed.
