Logging

A comprehensive log is created for each session and written to the Log file (see Application Directories and Files) and the Status Window. Each session creates a separate Log file directory. Log files are kept for seven days default. See Configure System Options for information on how to change this setting.

The Log file is mainly used for debugging. You may be asked at some stage to send a log file to product support.

The logged information is listed in the Log tab in the bottom left corner of the Status window. The display of the status window is controlled by the status window icon on the Main Toolbar.

The information shown in the Status window Log tab is controlled by the options in the top left of the Status window. These include the following.

  • Errors – Show/hide error messages.
  • Warnings – Show/hide warning messages.
  • Info – Show/hide info messages.
  • Clear – Clear all messages from the window.
  • Open – Open the log file in Notepad.
  • Email – Email the log file to product support. Emailing log files does not currently support automatic file attachment so you must either attach the log file yourself of copy paste the text into the body of the email.

The level that Log messages are recorded at can be changed with the Log Level field in the Options tab to generate more or fewer messages. See Configure System Options.
