Draw and Configure a Box and Whisker Plot

The B & W tab of the provides several grouped options for configuring the presentation of Box and Whisker Plots.

Activity Steps

  1. Display the graph.
  2. In the Property Panel, select the B & W tab.
  3. Select the percentage of the data covered by the box using the Box from and to fields.
  4. Select whether the whiskers should extend from the minimum to the maximum data points using the Whiskers to Min/Max field.
    1. If the whiskers are not set to min/max, enter the Whisker at and and values to set the extent of the whiskers.
    2. Note: You can have up to two sets of whiskers, but only if one set goes from min to max.

  5. If the whiskers are extending from minimum to maximum values, select whether to add Extra Whiskers.
    1. Enter the Whisker at and and values to set the extent of the second set of whiskers.
  6. Configure the following options as required.
    • Show Log (base 10) – Use a logarithmic scale.
    • Show population size – Display the number of samples in the dataset above each box and whisker plot.
    • Show data points – Display individual data points over the plot.
    • Point colour – Only available if Show data points is checked.
    • Auto font size
    • Font size – Only available if Auto font size is unchecked.
    • Colour boxes – Colour boxes with a Colour Key.
    • Colour Key Name – Select a Colour Key. Only available if Colour Boxes is selected.
    • Show checked box-whiskers – Show box plots for all checked data column components.
