Directional Continuity Analysis

Directional continuity analysis is the first of the two major stages of creating variograms in Supervisor. This analysis involves determining the direction of maximum continuity through a series of variogram fans.

Three variogram fans are analysed to determine the following.

  • Horizontal variogram fan – Strike of mineralisation.
  • Across strike variogram fan – Dip of mineralisation.
  • Dip plane variogram fan – Plunge of mineralisation.

Notes:

Variogram fans must be analysed in this order, but you can move to the Variogram Modelling stage at any point, without inserting all three variogram fans. For example, if you have a flat deposit, you may want to move on to modelling your variograms after the first fan.

Setting a variogram fan to 90 degrees ignores that fan. This can be used to skip fans but still model the fans that come after it.
