Use the Excel Add-in to Download Results
This activity describes how to download results by sample using the Excel Add-in. You can retrieve results by selecting each analyte scheme, setting a date range, or filtering by specific sample ID. This is the most common way to download sample results in the Excel Add-in. Other methods, such as downloading by sample location or submittal, are not included here. For more information about those options, please contact AssayNet Support.
This activity presumes you have the Excel Add-in installed. For more information see Install the LIMS Excel Add-in.
Activity Steps
- Open a new Microsoft Excel File.
You may also use an existing Excel file, but any existing data might be overwritten.
- Right-click and select LIMS » Download Results By Sample. Alternatively, click the Add-in tab in the Excel ribbon and then click LIMS » Download Results By Sample.
If you have not yet connected to your operational database, a Microsoft Excel information message window displays Lost Connection to LIMS.

Follow Connect to the Excel Add-in to connect.
The Samples screen displays.
- Complete the following fields as required:
- Client
- Project
- Sample ID—Enter a sample ID to download results for a specific sample. If you leave this field blank, the results for all samples within the selected date range will be downloaded.
Note: The Filters option is currently not available.
Analyte Schemes
- Select the Analyte Scheme.
- Click the blue arrow pointing right to move the scheme to the Selected Schemes list.
- Repeat these steps to select more schemes.
Note: The available analyte schemes are those assigned to the project scheme list. If an analyte scheme does not appear, it means it has not been created or assigned in the project scheme list.
- From Date
- Enter the From Date in the format dd-mmm-yy.
- Alternatively click the calendar icon to the right to select the From Date.
- To Date
- Enter the To Date in the format dd-mmm-yy.
- Alternatively click the calendar icon to the right to select the To Date.
- Select from the Date Options category group :
- Date Received—Download or filter results based on when samples arrived at the lab.
- Date Sample—(Default) Download results based on the sampling/collection date.
- In the Sort By category group select from:
- Sample ID
- Date Recieved—(Default)
- Date Sampled
- Select Clear Spreadsheet to overwrite any existing data.

Click OK to populate the results.
The Progress screen displays.
An AssayNet warning message will appear, indicating that any existing data will be removed.

Click Yes to continue.
