Configuring Automatic Result Validation for an Analyte

Result validation is the stage at which a validator is happy with a result as there are no quality control errors and all 'looks good' and wants to pass it on for sample validation.

Validation of a sample scheme analyte can only occur after the sample scheme analyte has a result that is released and has no quality control failures.

Scheme version analytes are configured for either manual or automatic validation.

  • Manual validation—The operator manually performs the validation of a sample scheme analyte.
  • Automatic validation—The system automatically performs the validation of a sample scheme analyte.

Result validation operates slightly different when a result is entered in context of a laboratory batch job:

  • In context of a production or internal job—Where a scheme version analyte is flagged for automatic validation, when a related sample scheme analyte has a result that is released and there are no quality control failures, and the result is entered in context of a production or internal job, then the sample scheme analyte is validated automatically.
  • In context of a laboratory batch job—Where a scheme version analyte is flagged for automatic validation, when a related sample scheme analyte has a result that is released and there are no quality control failures, and the result is entered within the context of a laboratory batch job, and the LAB_BATCH_MANUAL_VALIDATE_RESULTS application preference is cleared, then the sample scheme analyte is validated automatically.

Where a sample scheme analyte is not validated automatically, it must be validated manually.
