Maintaining Lines of Business
Overview
This process shows you how to maintain lines of business so that only those tests in the library that relate to your laboratory's line of business are available to you.
The concept of a line of business allows for the consistent application of functionality among laboratories that all provide similar services. The intention is to allow all laboratories in one line of business (such as oil, gas and chemicals, food, consumer testing) to use one version of CCLAS, including the same screens, scripts, database fields and processes.
All tests are grouped into one central server and made accessible to the individual laboratories. However, an individual laboratory can only perform those tests that are in its line of business. Therefore, tests are assigned to a library within a line of business, and a laboratory is assigned to one line of business, making only the respective tests within that line of business available to the laboratory.
This process is pertinent to LIMS configuration personnel who configure CCLAS for use in the organisation or laboratory.
