Sorting/Grouping: Grouping

The following table describes the fields on this screen shown below:

Field Description
Click to insert a new grouping. By default, new sorts are called New Grouping #, where # starts as 1 and is incremented by 1.
Click to copy the currently selected grouping and create a new grouping.
Click to delete the currently selected grouping.

 Groupings are not deleted immediately. You are prompted to confirm the deletion.

Click to rename the currently selected grouping.
Group By Specifies the name of the field to use in the grouping.

Select a valid value from the drop-down list.

Start typing the name of the field to quickly jump to the field that you need.

Interval Specifies the grouping interval. This field is only available for time and numeric based fields.

Select a valid value from the drop-down list.

 If the Group By field is a date field, the Interval ranges from minutes through to years. If the Group Byfield is a numeric field, the Interval is either None or a range from one thousandth (0.001) through to one million (1M).

From Char Specifies the first character of the Group By field to be used in the grouping. This field is only available for text fields.

By default, this field is set to 0 - the first character of the field.

Length Specifies the length of the text of the Group By field to be used in the grouping. This field is only available for text fields.

By default, this field is set to 0. Specify 9999 to use the whole field in the grouping.

Default Direction Specifies the group sort direction.

Select a valid value from the drop-down list.

Locked Select this field to lock the grouping.

When this field is selected, the grouping displays a lock to the left of the grouping name. Details of the grouping condition are greyed out and are no longer editable until you unlock the grouping.

Apply Click to apply your changes.
Close Click to apply your changes and close the form.
Cancel Click to lose the changes you made and close the screen.
