Activating a single-user license (RLM)

Isatis.neo uses the Reprise License Manager (RLM) system to manage single-user licenses. These licenses are bound to a specific machine and user.

Licenses are encrypted with the MAC address of the computer. RLM will automatically detect the most appropriate MAC address. That address must remain active at all times, or the license will become invalid.

Note: Single-user licenses cannot be activated on virtual machines.

Note: If your system does not have a stable MAC address — for example in a virtual machine — the license can be linked to a Geovariances-provided dongle. The dongle’s unique ID will replace the MAC address as the locking element. This solution is available for both single-user and site licenses, but must be requested in advance from our team.

When to use a single-user license

You will typically use this license type in one of the following cases:

  • Training session: a temporary license file is provided.
  • Evaluation period: a trial key is provided by your sales contact.
  • Purchased license: a permanent activation key is issued after purchase or subscription.

Case 1 — Training license file

If you are attending a training session, a file named training.lic is provided along with basic installation instructions. Save the file in the product’s license directory:

Windows:

C:\Program Files\Geovariances\Isatis.neo\license

Linux:

/apps/isatis.neo/license

You can copy the file using your file browser or terminal, or directly within Isatis.neo by selecting Install a License File from the registration window.

Note: Saving the file requires administrator privileges. If you use the in-app installer, make sure to run the software as Administrator.

Case 2 — Evaluation license file

During a trial period, a temporary license file is provided by our Sales team. This file grants access to a cloud license, hosted on a remote server managed by our team.

As such, the license requires an active internet connection to remain valid during use.

Note: Make sure your computer can access the internet and that port 5053 is open (this port is used by the cloud licensing server).

Note: If you receive a License not available message when starting the software, please refer to the Licensing issues section to check your network settings and license availability.

Case 3 — Purchased license (activation key)

If you have purchased or subscribed to a single-user license, you will receive a 16-digit activation key from your Sales Contact or Help Desk.

Use this key during the first launch of the software, in the registration window:

Activation steps

  • Select Activate a License.
  • Enter your name and email address.
  • Copy/paste your 16-digit Activation Key (e.g. 1234-5678-1234-5678).
  • Click Verify Key to connect to the Geovariances server and validate license details.
  • Click OK to complete the registration and save the encrypted license file on your system.

Note: You must run the application as Administrator to complete this process.

Note: Once activated, the license is locked to the current machine and cannot be transferred. Make sure you perform this step on the intended computer.

Note: Internet access is required. If your network uses an unsupported proxy configuration, use the Offline Activation method. See Licensing issues.
