Manage Data Grid Record Comments

To add a comment to a record in a data grid:

  1. For a single record, right-click the row selector and select Add Comment from the menu.
  2. For multiple records, select the records and then right-click the row selector of a selected record and select Add Comment from the menu.
  3. In the pop-up screen, enter the comment. Comments are colour-coded to indicate their priority:
    • Green—Indicates normal priority.
    • Yellow—Add an exclamation mark to the beginning of a comment to indicate medium priority.
    • Red—Add two exclamation marks to the beginning of a comment for high priority.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click Save or Save and Close.

Note: Comments containing more than 30 characters are converted into text even if they start with a number. Sorting comments consisting of numbers and text will therefore not always work.

To change the display of comments:

  1. Right-click the data grid settings icon and select Select Columns > Comments and the required display type from the menu:
    • Under Row—Default display type.
    • Normal Column—Enables sorting by comment. You can click the cell to edit the comment.
    • Icon—Colour-coded for priority. You can click the icon to edit the comment.
    • None—Comments do not display in the grid, but do display in the details pane.

    For all display types except None, you can hover your mouse pointer over a comment to view the whole comment as a tooltip.
