Configure Stope Splitting Settings

The Stope Splitting tools in MSO are post-processing options that let you subdivide larger stopes into smaller units for more practical scheduling and operational implementation.

This is especially valuable when long stopes need to be split based on operational limits, geotechnical zones, or custom design controls. MSO provides multiple splitting methods, each with its own configuration parameters.

Stope Splitting Methods

MSO supports the following Splitting Types to split stopes in more manageable units:

Transverse

Slice stopes across their width or height, depending on the orientation. You control the division using different Transverse Type strategies.

See Transverse Stope Splitting.

Fixed Width

Split stopes into segments based on a defined constant width.

See Fixed Width Stope Splitting.

Model Field

uses block model fields to guide the split behaviour based on value-driven conditions (such as different domains or zones).

See Model Field Stope Splitting.

Longitudinal

Split stopes along their length, aligned to the chosen axis (U or V). It’s useful for long, narrow stopes that require length-based segmentation.

See Longitudinal Stope Splitting.

Room and Pillar

Room and Pillar stope splitting applies this concept during post-processing by subdividing slice-generated stopes into a regular pattern of rooms separated by pillars.

See Room and Pillar Stope Splitting.
