Define Crown Side Annealing

This section of the Shapes screen is used to refine the upper geometry of prism stopes during optimisation.

These settings are only relevant to prism XY or YX framework orientations. See Prism Orientation Settings.

Instead of using a fixed crown shape, the optimiser can:

  • Push the crown inward (concave)

  • Push the crown outward (convex)

This can help to balance:

  • Recovery

  • Dilution

  • Crown stability

Note: These settings can be used to fine-tune the optimization of this framework type, and are all optional.

Activity steps:

  1. Display the Shapes screen.

Note: The activity outlined below is specific to the Prism framework type. Other framework types present a different screen.

  2. Check Use Crown Side Annealing if undercutting is required.

Note: If this control is unavailable, check that your framework is Prism and either the XY or YX Orientation.

  3. Enter the Concave Distance. This is the maximum inward adjustment allowed at the stope crown.

  4. Enter the Convex Distance. This is the maximum outward adjustment allowed at the stope crown.

  5. Save your settings.
