Enter Sample Data for a Bulk Package Group

This activity presumes that the process flow used to fill the package group has an assigned sample template. See Assign a Sample Template to a Material Flow.

Security Note: You need the Allow sample maintenance security right in the Samples domain security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the Package Group (Bulk).
  2. Select the Manual tab.
  3. Select the Quality tab.
  4. Create a sample:
    1. Expand the Samples tree.

The sample templates assigned to the packing process flow display.

    2. Right-click the sample template and select New from the menu.

Note: If the Sample status definition exists, the sample is assigned the initial status. This status definition controls whether the sample is editable and selectable. See Status Definitions and View or Change Sample Status.

    3. To rename the sample:
      1. Right-click the sample and select Rename from the menu.
      2. Update the sample name.
  5. To formally request results for the sample:
    1. Select the sample in the Samples tree.
    2. Enter the Results Requested date and a Comment if required.
  6. Associate the sample with filling transactions:
    1. Select the sample in the Samples tree.
    2. Check Selected in the Transactions field group for each transaction to which the sample applies.
  7. Enter the sample results:
    1. Select the sample in the Samples tree.
    2. Select the Sample Date if required.
    3. If results were formally requested, check Results Received.
    4. Select the Enter Sample Analyte Results sub-tab.
    5. Update the Value for each analyte in the displayed Unit.

Press Tab or Enter to move between cells when entering sample data. Use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to copy and paste data into the table. Data is pasted into cells from left to right for rows, and top to bottom for columns.

It is possible to Change the Default Analytes Displayed for Sample Data Entry.

    6. If the Sample Analyte status definition exists, select the Status for each analyte.

Note: You can only change the status if the status transition is allowed for your user group. Status link configuration may require that only different users can change consecutive statuses, or that the user who changes the status cannot be the user who last modified the sample analyte. To view the status history for the individual analyte, right-click the status and select Open Analyte Status History from the menu.

  8. Click Save.
