Assign Packages to a Package Group

This activity assigns packages to an existing package group. Alternative activities are to search for and select packages from within a package group, or to use lotting. See Assign Packages in a Package Group and Assign Packages to Package Group Lots (Lotting).

For this activity, the packages must:

  • Be in a selectable status if the Package status definition exists
  • Not be loaded on a despatch

If the selected packages are already in a package group, this activity moves the packages from the source package group to the destination package group.

Both the source (if applicable) and destination package groups must:

  • Be in an editable and selectable status if the Package Group status definition exists
  • Have the same despatch order if a despatch order is specified for either package group
  • Not be loaded on a despatch

Security Note: You need the Allow package group maintenance security right in the Supply Chain user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the Package Explorer or the Discrete Unit Batch in which the packages were created.
  2. If using the Package Explorer, find the packages. See Find Packages.
  3. To select (that is, highlight) multiple consecutive packages:
    1. Click the first package.
    2. Press and hold down the Shift key.
    3. Click the last package.
  4. To select (that is, highlight) multiple non-consecutive packages:
    1. Click the first package.
    2. Press and hold down the Ctrl key.
    3. Click each of the other packages.
  5. Right-click a single package or the highlighted packages and select Assign To Package Group from the menu.

    The Package Group Selector displays.

  6. Enter the following search criteria as required.
    • Start Date
    • End Date
    • Location—Select from the discrete unit and despatch locations defined on the Supply Chain panel of the Solution Explorer. Despatch locations are rail sidings, truck despatch locations, barge terminals and port locations.
    • Product—Select from the products and brands defined on the Material panel of the Solution Explorer.
    • Container Type—Select from No Container Type or container types defined on the Supply Chain panel of the Solution Explorer.
  7. To include a text string in the search criteria:
    1. Select the method to Search By from Package Group, Package Group Batch and Despatch Order.
    2. Enter the Search Text. Multiple names can be entered as a comma-separated list. Names can also be copied from a column of an Excel spreadsheet. When the clipboard contents are pasted into the Search Text field, MineMarket converts the data to a comma-separated list. When searching for multiple names, only exact matches are included in the search results. Text searches are case-sensitive with SQL databases with a case-sensitive collation and with all Oracle databases.
  8. Click Search or press F3.

If the selected packages are to be moved from a source package group, the source package group is excluded from the search results.

  9. To review the selected packages, and to view a summary of their mass and quality, select the Selected Packages tab.
  10. Select the Allocation Date. This date must be later than the most recent state in the Activity table of the package group.
  11. Select (that is, highlight) the destination package group on the Package Groups tab.
  12. Click OK.
  13. Click Save.

The packages are removed from the source package group (if applicable) and assigned to the destination package group. The most recent state in the Activity table of the source package group displays updated masses. The Activity table of the destination package group displays a new state for the package group. The Activity table of each package displays a new state for the package.
