Run a Billboard

Note: All billboard executions are logged in the database and display in the Billboard Execution Statistics Report. The first time you run a billboard, a database record is created, which enables the Save button even if you do not make changes.

Security Note: Assuming you can see the billboard in the Solution Explorer, no specific security right is required for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Select the Reporting panel in the Solution Explorer.
  2. Expand the Billboard Categories node.
  3. Right-click the billboard and select View from the menu, or double-click the billboard.

    The Billboard (execution) displays.

  4. Enter values for the billboard parameters as required.

    Note: Parameters can be saved as a search profile. Search profiles for billboards include all criteria except date ranges. See Use Saved Search Profiles in MineMarket Explorers and Billboards.

  5. Click Refresh.

    Note: A billboard is only refreshed when a parameter is changed that has the Force Refresh option checked, or when the Refresh button is clicked, or if a search profile is selected.

  6. To group the data in the table by one or more columns, drag each column name into the Drag a column header here to group by that column area.

    Note: If you group data or resize or sort columns, the Save icon is enabled. If you save, the billboard will have the same layout when you next run the billboard. To restore the layout, click Default Layout. Saved billboard layouts are specific to the currently logged in user.

  7. To preview and print the billboard:
    1. Check Fit To Page and Landscape if required.
    2. Right-click the results table and select Print Preview from the menu.
    3. Follow the system prompts to select a printer and print the billboard.
  8. To export the results to Microsoft Excel, right-click the results and select Export Grid To » Export to Excel from the menu.

    Microsoft Excel opens and displays the results in a new spreadsheet.

  9. To save the results as a CSV, XML or TXT file, right-click the results and select Export Grid To » [File Type] from the menu.
