Creating a Log for Troubleshooting

If you encounter a problem with License Services, create a license log to record what occurred within the system when the problem occurred.

 

Creating a log

  1. Open the License Manager on the relevant computer(s)

  2. In the main menu, select Tools | Options...

  3. In the Optionsdialog, select the General tab.

  4. In the Logging group, select either the Full or Extended logging option.3

  5. Restart the License service to initialize the log, before recreating the circumstances of the problem you wish to record.

Restarting the service

  1. In the Options dialog, select the LicenseService tab.

  2. In the LicenseService tab, click Restart - the License service will stop, and then restart.

Accessing the log file

There are two ways to access the log file that you have created:

  • From the File menu select Open Log File.

  • In the Options dialog, select the General tab, and then click Open Log File....

You then have the option of either cutting and pasting the content into an email, or by sending the complete text file with your report.
