Create a Licensing Log

If you encounter a problem with License Services, create a license log to record what occurred within the system when the problem occurred.

Note: This isn't the same as User Logging, which records key licensing events over time.

To start logging license services diagnostics:

  1. Open the License Manager on the relevant computer(s)

  2. Tools >> Options.

  3. Select the General tab.

  4. In the Logging group, select either the Full or Extended logging option.

  5. Restart the License service to initialize the log, before recreating the circumstances of the problem you wish to record.

Important: Remember to disable logging when you've finished, to avoid unnecessary build up of data on the target PC.

To access the log file:

There are two ways to access the log file that you have created:

  • From the File menu select Open Log File.

  • Display the Options screen, select the General tab, and then click Open Log File.
