Understanding "Maintenance-aware"

Datamine License Services not only monitors and controls software component licenses, but also controls software upgrades according to whether or not maintenance has been purchased. If you have bought maintenance you will receive a maintenance key which, when installed, entitles you to software upgrades during the purchased maintenance period.

If no maintenance has been purchased, any upgrades beyond your entitlement will not run. Software versions installed when your license was purchased, and any upgrades installed during previously purchased maintenance periods will continue to run once a valid software version is reinstalled.
