Selecting Data

Data can be selected as a single cell, or as one of several type of cell groups:

Selecting a single cell

The simplest way to select a cell in a small table is to click on it. It will be selected by a single click and made editable by clicking a second time.

For larger tables: if the cell location (record and column) are known, the Edit | Go To | Absolute  command may be used from the main menu. This method can also be activated by double-clicking the Record/Column co-ordinates in the status bar.

Select All Cells

To select all data, you can either:

  • Select Edit >> Select All.

  • Type CTRL + A.

  • In the top-left cell, click the top-left border.

Select a Column

To select a whole column of data, click the column title.

Select a Record

To select all the cells in a record, click on the record number.

Select a Block of Data

To select a block using the mouse, click in one corner of the area to be selected, hold the button down and drag to the opposite corner. The cell in focus will be the first selected.

Note:  A block may also be defined using the cursor keys: once the first cell has been located, hold down the shift key and use the cursor keys to locate the opposite corner.
