Edit Field Definitions
To display this screen:

Tools >> Definition editor.
Create new columns (fields) using Add or Insert, or delete columns using Delete, or modify the current definition of the columns.

Add a column – Click Add under the Columns list to place a new field at the bottom of the list.

Insert a column – Click Insert under the Columns list to place a new field above the current selection in the list.

Delete a column – Click Delete to remove the currently selected field from the list.

Description |

Name: |
Column (fields) name. Highlight the current or default name and type in the desired name. Note: Don't edit Datamine system field names. This can cause Studio processes to fail, or for the type of file to become unrecognisable. |

Type: |
Type of data contained in column. Select alphanumeric or numeric from the drop-down list. |
|
Length: |
Number of characters - for alpha data only. Specify the number of characters. |
|
Default Value: |
Value entered automatically when a new record is added to the table. Specify a default value for the column. |
|
Implicit: |
Is data implicit (same value for every record) or explicit (different value for each record)? Choose Yes or No according to the data in the column. |
|
Formula: |
Enter formula to calculate values for the fields. Note: This option is only available for new columns. You can't edit existing column data. |
