Stereonet Information

To access this screen:

  • Display the Stereonet screen and select the Information tab.

The Information tab of the Stereonet screen is used to view current stereonet settings, loaded data statistics, and selected set statistics.

Activity Steps:

  1. Review the Appearance information.

  2. Check the Hemisphere value.

    This value indicates whether the stereonet uses an upper or lower hemisphere projection.

  3. Check the Projection value.

    This value indicates whether the stereonet uses an equal-area or equal-angle projection. See Schmidt Projection and Wulff Projection.

  4. Review the Loaded Data Statistics information.

  5. Check Total Number of Poles.

    This is the total number of poles in the structure points object or data file.

  6. Check Average Dip.

    This is the average dip of all values.

  7. Check Average Dip Direction.

    This is the average of all dip direction values.

  8. Review the named set statistics, if sets have been defined.

    The set statistics heading uses the set name, for example Set 1 Statistics.

  9. Check Number of Poles. This is the total number of poles within the defined set window.

  10. Check the set Average Dip. This is the average of all dip values within the set window.

  11. Check the set Average Dip Direction. This is the average of all dip direction values within the set window.

Note: The information shown changes depending on whether sets have been defined. At a minimum, the dialog includes Appearance and Loaded Data Statistics information.

Note: The Stereonet dialog is modeless. You can leave it open while you run commands in other windows, such as the 3D window.
