Edit Automated Design Rule Set Assignments

Accessing this screen:

On the Design panel, click Edit Automated Design Rule Set Assignments.

Automated design rules are categorized into sets, using the Edit Automated Design Rules dialog.

This dialog is used to assign a rule set to a design data file.

You can assign rule sets to any string file associated with your project. Once a rule set is assigned, it becomes locked and cannot be deleted until it is unassigned.

You can assign the same rule set to more than one design file, but each design file can only be linked to one rule set.

General Approach to Automated Design

Studio UG uses a three-step approach to using automated design rules:

Set up one or more rules that apply to a pre-defined filter. Each group of rules is referred to as a "rule set". These rules are defined using the Edit Automated Design Rules dialog.
Assign each rule set to a data design file. All design files currently associated with the project (via the Settings panel) can be used as a basis for automated design. Rule sets are assigned to design files using the Assign Automated Rules Sets dialog.
Process the rules to generate activity points and solids.
