Create a Template

Templates can be created for individual components or child components of the selected component. The steps below are focussed on creating a template for an individual component, but the same steps can be used to create templates for multiple child components as well. These steps can also be used to create Shell Templates.

Activity Steps

1. Select a component from the Project Tree.
2. Right-click on the selection and select Component » Save as Template » [Save Directory] or Component » Save as Shell Template » [Save Directory] from the menu.

   Notes:

   Select Save Child Components as Template from the right-click menu to create a template with all child components of the selected component.

   Only one directory is available to save templates to initially. More locations can be added to the Template Library's Directories Window. See Add New Template Directories.

3. Select the save location.
4. Click Save.

Note: The template feature automatically creates a hierarchical directory structure that stores templates grouped by component type. You may be directed to a Point Data, Block Data or other type of component folder, depending on the types of components you are working with.
