Configure a Correlation Matrix
A correlation matrix is comprised of a scatter plot (or multiple scatter plots), displayed at the top of the Main Canvas and the matrix itself, displayed at the bottom of the Main Canvas. This section focuses on configuring the matrix. For information on configuring the scatter plot component of the correlation matrix, see Draw and Configure a Scatter Plot and Configure Scatter Plot Regression Line.
Activity Steps
- Display the graph.
- In the Property Panel, select the Matrix tab.
- Configure the following options as required.
- Transform field group:
- Independent – Data transformation for the independent (Y-axis) variable.
- Dependent – Data transformation for the dependent (X-axis) variable.
Note: Changing the data transformation for either variable requires you to update the plot. After selecting a data transformation, click anywhere on the scatter plot or in the correlation matrix table. The table and plot display a green background, signalling that the plot needs to be updated. Click the Update button at the top of the Matrix tab, or any of the green update buttons on the Toolbars or Main Canvas.
- Colouring field group:
- Key – Select a colour key to colour the matrix table by value.
- Background – Colour the background of the cells in the matrix rather than changing the text colour.
- Show field group:
- Matrix – Select how the matrix table displays.
- Decimals – Number of decimals to which matrix values display.
- Columns – Select which Data Column Components display in the correlation matrix.
