Merging Domains
Merging domains allows you to combine data from two or more domains and analyse them as one population. Merging of domains is controlled from the Data Loader's Merge Domains Window – Data Loading Component and can be accessed from the tab at the bottom of the Data Loader Main Canvas.
In the context of Supervisor, a domain is a sub-group of the data set, which is defined by a categorical field. No single record can be a part of two domains defined by one field. For example, a domain column may be a rock type, and domain values could include shale and sandstone.
Merging of domains is often used in resource geology to reduce the number of domains that need to be analysed by merging domains that share the same statistical population. It is up to you to select which domains to merge. Merged domains are treated as single domains during grouping (see Group Data) in the Project Tree.
Note: Merged domains are stored in the Merge Domains window of the . Initially with the Use setting disabled. The merge library settings are applied automatically to any loaded data with corresponding domain columns.
