Add a group of samples to a job

  1. Update a job to display the CCREGN—Job Detail screen.

  2. Select the Samples tab to display samples that already exist for the job.

  3. Click Create Sample to display the CCSAMP—Update Sample screen.

  4. To specify the rack assignment:

    1. Select the Primary Details tab.

    2. Select whether to Start from New Rack.

  5. To enter the sample identification:

    1. Select the Primary Details tab.

    2. Directly enter the Client Sample Name/Syntax, or directly enter a pre-set syntax to create a number of unique client sample numbers and the actual number of samples., or use the Sample Ident Wizard to specify the multiple client sample names in the sample group represented by the interim sample.

      To use the Sample Ident Wizard:

      1. Right-click in the field and select Sample Ident Wizard to display theSample Ident Wizard dialog box.

      2. At any time in the Sample Ident Wizard, click Cancel to cancel the addition of client sample names from the wizard.

      3. To use a sample sequence where samples have one running sequence incremented in steps, enter:

      4. To use a sample sequence where samples have two running sequences incremented in concurrent steps, enter:

      5. To use a sample sequence where samples have two running sequences incremented in an inner and outer loop of steps, enter:

      6. Click Add.

      7. Repeat steps c-f, as required. For example:

    3. Directly enter the Description, or use the Sample Ident Wizard to specify the multiple descriptions in the sample group represented by the interim sample.

      To use the Sample Ident Wizard:

      2. At any time in the Sample Ident Wizard, click Cancel to cancel the addition of client sample names from the wizard.

      3. To use a sample sequence where samples have one running sequence incremented in steps, enter:

      6. Click Add.

      7. Repeat steps c-f, as required. For example:

  6. To specify QC assessment details:

    1. Select Primary Analytical Type. Any change may require the update of the Primary QC Type Code to a matching sub-classification.

      Note: If a different Primary Analytical Type is selected for a sample, then the Primary QC Type Code must be selected to define the sub-analytical type.

    2. If the Primary Analytical Type is Duplicate, Replicate, Blank, Standard or Spike, then:

      1. Select the Primary QC Type Code from the drop-down list or click the field hyperlink to display the CCQCTP—Search QC Type screen, select the appropriate value and click Select and Return to populate the field with the selected value.

    3. Select the Secondary Analytical Type. Any change may require the update of the Secondary QC Type Code to a matching sub-classification.

    4. If the Secondary Analytical Type is Blank or Standard, then:

      1. Select the Secondary QC Type Code from the drop-down list or click the field hyperlink to display the CCQCTP—Search QC Type screen, select the appropriate value and click Select and Return to populate the field with the selected value.

      2. Select a Standard Code and Standard Lot Code if it is known.

    5. If the Primary Analytical Type or Secondary Analytical Type is Duplicate or Replicate, then:

      1. Select the Dup Original Sample Code, Dup Original Sample Name and Dup Original Client Sample Name.

    6. If the Primary Analytical Type or Secondary Analytical Type is Blank, Standard or Spike, then:

      1. Select the Standard Code from the drop-down list or click the field hyperlink to display the CCSTND—Search Standard screen, select the appropriate value and click Select and Return to populate the field with the selected value.

      2. Select the Standard Lot Code from the drop-down list.

  7. To specify sample origin:

    1. Select Sample Type Code and Sample Point Code, if required.

    2. Select Sampled On, Sampling Started On and Sampled By details, if required.

  8. To specify the number of required containers, aka, sample portions for each sample:

    1. Enter the Number of Containers delivered to the laboratory and Delivered By details, if required.

    2. Notice the value in Number of Containers.

    3. Select the Portions tab and notice that the default number of sample portions matches the Number of Containers.

      Sample portion tracking is available only for jobs that have a Job Type of Production or Internal.

      If the system is configured to allow the creation of sample portions during registration, when a sample group is defined, then the initial grid in the Sample Portions tab contains the number of portions as defined by the default Number of Containers.

      If the system is configured to disallow the creation of sample portions during registration, when a sample group is defined, then the initial grid in the Sample Portions tab does not contain any default sample portions.

    4. Select the Primary Details tab again.

    5. Enter the required Number of Containers.

  9. To specify priority and key dates:

    1. Update the Priority, as required.

    2. Select or clear the Received Date, Required Date, Possible Date or Agreed Date, as required.

  10. To consider a sample in context of job scheme QC sample placements:

    1. Select Include in Job QC.

  11. To specify sample inclusion in paperwork and labels:

    1. Select whether to Generate Paperwork.
    2. Select whether to Generate Label.
  12. To specify sample inclusion in certificate reports:

    1. Select whether the sample is Reportable.
  13. To specify sample inclusion in job invoices:

    1. Select whether the sample is Invoiceable.

  14. To specify sample inclusion in job costs:

    1. Select whether to Include in costs.
  15. To enter sample notes:

    1. Select the Notes tab.

    2. Update Registration Notes, Analysis Notes or Report Notes.

    3. Format entered text using the toolbar. HTML formatted text can be pasted from one CCLAS rich text notes field into another rich text notes field, such that, the formatting is preserved.

    4. To insert a canned comment, click F2 to display the Select Canned Comment dialog box.

    5. Select the default or another Canned Comment Type and Canned Comment Subtype.

    6. Select an optional Category Code to filter the Canned Comment Code drop-down list by the selected category.

    7. Enter or select Canned Comment Code from the drop-down list to embed the canned comment long form content into the note field. Note that Cancel can be clicked at any time to exit canned comment selection.

  16. Maintain sample biofields for the sample group, as required.

  17. Maintain sample products and specifications for the sample group, as required.

  18. Maintain sample tests and Update sample scheme analyte reporting details, as required.

  19. Once all of the registration details are entered into the interim sample, click Submit to expand the sample group and register the individual samples.

  20. On the CCREGN—Job Detail screen, click Refresh to view the newly registered samples in the Samples grid.
