Validate Sample Scheme Analyte Results
Use this activity to validate Sample Scheme Analyte results. This is required for results that are not validated during a Workbook session.
- Conditions for Forcing Manual Validation of a Laboratory Batch Result
- Conditions for Forcing Manual Validation of a Production Result
- Restrictions on Validating a Result Manually
Activity Steps
- Access the CCVALN—Update Job and Sample Validation application from the main menu or quick launch to display the CCVALN—Update Job and Sample Validation screen.
- Enter the relevant search criteria on the Primary Criteria tab and/or the Scoped Criteria tab and click Search Samples.
Samples that match the criteria display in the upper Sample grid. Note that the Sample grid cannot be updated directly.
- Select a sample row in the upper Samples grid, for a sample that is validated.
Sample scheme analyte results associated with the sample display in the lower Analytes grid.
- On the lower Analytes grid, select the rows where the Workflow Status is REL (Released) for each sample scheme analyte result requiring validation.
- Click Validate.
Given the sample scheme analyte's Workflow Status is Released, and either no validation results user group is defined, or you are a member of that group, and the sample scheme analyte's Composite QC Status is not one of the failure statuses, as per the restrictions outlined above, then the sample scheme analyte is validated.
The system returns a message to indicate the outcome of the validation:
• Where all selected sample scheme analytes are successfully validated: "Action completed successfully."
• Where only some of the selected sample scheme analytes are successfully validated: "Action partially completed successfully."
• Where the user does not have rights to validate a selected scheme: "You have no rights to validate analytes for scheme {<Scheme_Code> ]."
• Where a selected sample scheme analyte fails to validate: "Sample [<Sample_Name>] Scheme [<Scheme_Code>] Analyte {<Analyte_Code>] cannot be validated."
• Where no selected sample scheme analytes are successfully validated: "No changes have been made." - Click Submit.
The changes made during the validation session are saved.
When a sample scheme analyte is validated, the sample scheme analyte's Workflow Status is set to Completed if it is not already Listed Not Received, Insufficient Sample, Not Analysed or No Result (in which case, it is left as that), its validated date is stamped and validated by is set to the current user.
When a sample scheme analyte's Composite Specification Status, Composite QC Status or Workflow Status is updated, the cascade engine re-evaluates these statuses up the respective production and/or laboratory batch job trees. Refer to Appendix—Cascade Engine.
When the cascade engine determines whether a sample should be automatically completed, where the sample is a laboratory batch sample and the AUTO_COMPLETE_LAB_BATCH_SAMPLES application preference is defined and selected, or the sample is a proposal, production or template sample and the AUTO_COMPLETE_SAMPLES application preference is defined and selected, then sample's Workflow Status is set to Completed.
When the cascade engine determines whether a sample should be automatically validated, where the sample is a laboratory batch sample and the AUTO_VALIDATE_LAB_BATCH_SAMPLES application preference is defined and selected, or the sample is a proposal, production or template sample and the AUTO_VALIDATE_SAMPLES application preference is defined and selected, then the sample's Validated Date is stamped.
