Maintaining User Groups
A user group is a collection of users.
User groups are used to apply secured access to functionality, and as a search criteria.
User Group Scope
User groups are created either with org-scope or lab-scope. An organisation or laboratory can contain multiple user groups.
Use of User Groups
User groups are also used in preferences to limit the users who can perform various operations:
- The ALLOW_DELETE_DUP_USERGROUP, ALLOW_DELETE_REP_USERGROUP, ALLOW_DELETE_BLK_USERGROUP, ALLOW_DELETE_STD_USERGROUP and ALLOW_DELETE_SPK_USERGROUP application preferences control which users can delete duplicate, replicate, blank, standard and spike QC samples.
- The COMPLETE_JOBS_USERGROUP, COMPLETE_BATCH_JOBS_USERGROUP, COMPLETE_SAMPLES_USERGROUP and COMPLETE_BATCH_SAMPLES_USERGROUP application preferences control which users can complete jobs and samples.
- The VALIDATE_JOBS_USERGROUP, VALIDATE_BATCH_JOBS_USERGROUP, VALIDATE_SAMPLES_USERGROUP and VALIDATE_SAMPLES_USERGROUP application preferences control which users can validate jobs and samples.
- The JOB_OWNER_USERGROUP and SAMPLE_OWNER_USERGROUP application preferences control which users can be set as owners of jobs and samples.
A section can be linked to a section manager user group to denote which users have the role of section manager.
A section can be linked to an access, release and validate user group so that specific aspects of data entry/capture, result release and validation for schemes within the section is limited to users within the access, release and validate user groups.
