Clear Drill Machine Fault Log Records

When importing data automatically from a drill navigation system, it is necessary to match the data being imported to the holes that are in the drill pattern.

Matching depends on the system. Some systems match on a hole ID. Some systems match on the combination of the pattern name and hole ID. An additional consideration is whether the hole is in the expected X/Y position, within a tolerance range specified in the Service Control settings for that system. See Drill Machine Interfaces. Further considerations may be the hole depth, angle, bearing and diameter within specified tolerances.

If the drill navigation import does not pass these tests, but the imported data can be associated with a drill pattern, the data is sent to a fault log. See Process a Drill Machine Fault Log.

Use this activity to delete faults log records that cannot be resolved, or if you need to delete many drill machine fault log records.

Activity Steps

  1. Select the Drill module.
  2. On the Drill Ribbon Menu, click Drill Machine Fault Log.

The Fault Log Ribbon Menu displays.

  3. On the Fault Log ribbon menu, click Clear Faults.

A warning that drill machine information may be irretrievably lost displays.

  4. Click OK.

The Clear Drill Machine Faults screen displays.

Note: If you had selected a Pattern for fault log processing, a confirmation message gives you the option to process only fault log records related to the selected pattern (select Yes), or fault log records related to all/no patterns (select No).

  5. In the Delete faults matching all of these conditions field group, select a combination of the following criteria as required.
    • Invalid Hole ID
    • Suspect Drill Start Date
    • Invalid Drill Machine
    • Suspected Redrill
    • Drill Duration Invalid
    • Drilling Aborted
    • Invalid Operator
    • Difference exceeds tolerance for:
      • Position
      • Depth
      • Bearing
      • Angle
      • Diameter
    • Missing or partial:
      • Position
      • Depth
      • Bearing
      • Angle
    • Drill Start Time—Select a date range.
    • Drill—Select a drill machine from the defined drill machines. See Maintain Drill Machines.
    • Drill Operator—Select a drill operator from the defined operators with the Drill Operator competency. See Maintain Operators.
  6. In the And any combination of these conditions field group, select criteria as required.

Note: The selected conditions in Delete faults matching all of these conditions are treated as AND conditions in the query. The selected conditions in And any combination of these conditions are treated as OR conditions in the query. For example, if you select Invalid Hole ID and Drilling Aborted in the Delete faults matching all of these conditions section, a fault log record that only indicates an invalid hole ID will not be deleted. However, if you select Invalid Hole ID and Drilling Aborted in the And any combination of these conditions section, a fault log record that only indicates an invalid hole ID will be deleted.

  7. Click Start.

    A warning displays.

  8. Click Yes if you are sure you want to continue.

A progress screen displays during the scanning of fault log records. All fault log records are scanned, even if you are only clearing fault log records related to a selected pattern.

A summary displays when the scanning and deletion are complete.

  9. Click Close to close the summary.
  10. Click Close to close the Clear Drill Machine Faults screen.
