Define a Dashboard Item Datasource

Dashboard items are configured using the Dashboard Report screen, comprising Details, Datasource and Filters panels.

The Datasource screen is used to determine which data values are represented on each dashboard item. Data can either be derived from existing loaded project values (Standard) or provided via a Macro.

Note: This topic focuses on the Standard data source options. For more information about macro-managed data, please contact your local Datamine office.

To set up a dashboard item data source:

  1. Display a dashboard view with at least one dashboard item.

  2. Ensure Design Mode is active:

    1. Right-click an empty part of the dashboard.

    2. If Design Mode is inactive (no tick appears), select it.

  3. Right-click the dashboard item to configure and selected Edit Item.

The Dashboard Report screen displays, displaying the Details tab.

  4. Select the Datasource tab.

  5. Standard is selected by default (meaning values are derived from the currently loaded object data).

  6. If Task data is to be displayed, configure the data source using the upper table, otherwise for Resources data use the lower table (or configure both if your chart uses both elements).

Regardless of the data source type, configure the following table column values:

    • Field – The data field in the loaded object that contains the values to be charted.

    • Destination – To report data relating to a particular destination, pick it here. By default, <All> signifies data relating to all destinations is reported.

    • Title – A read-only field.

    • Format – Decide which values are displayed in the chart (Period Total, Cumulative, Number of and so on).

    • Scale – The numeric axis scale used for display purposes.

    • Scale Value

    • Num. Format – The number format used to display labels and tooltips. See Field Format Specifiers.
