Insert a Work Package
To display this screen:
-
Drag a Work Package item from the Generate Tasks side bar into the main Tasks area, at the location the new task should appear.
Use this screen to insert a work package into an existing schedule. The work package will replace the target activity. Valid targets are standalone activities, subtasks of work packages and other work package parent items.
Note: Configure work packages using the Generate Work Packages/Tasks screen.
Activity steps:
-
Ensure your project has at least one defined Work Package.
-
Display the Generate Tasks Sidebar.
-
Display the Tasks area and drag a Work Package into the schedule at the location you want it to be actioned.
The Insert Work Package screen appears.
-
The Replace existing task with work package item option is automatically selected on the left, as it is the only one relevant to inserting work packages (this screen is also used when you Insert Template Task, where further options appear).
-
By default, the work package will replace only Selected Tasks (replacing them with the full work package and all subtasks associated with it). Alternatively, you can expand the For menu to pick:
-
All Tasks – Replace all primary tasks of the schedule with the work package.
Note: This can affect the schedule significantly so use with caution.
-
Filtered Tasks – Replace all work items that haven't been excluded by an active task filter.
-
-
You can also set the driving Quantity for the work package before you insert it. Select a value and measurement unit.
-
To flag up the inserted task in the Task table (Information column), check Bookmark Task(s). Bookmarked tasks appear like this:
-
Click Insert to replace the target task(s) with the work package.
