Configure Stope Seed Strings

Stope Seed Stringsis one type of Advanced Slice Frameworks.

This advanced framework type allows you to define stope shapes starting from the centerline of a stope (called a "seed string"). MSO then grows a full stope shape around that central axis using the parameters defined in the rest of the scenario, including framework controls and extents.

Use this option when you want to guide the general position and orientation of the stope using a centerline (seed), but allow MSO to calculate and grow the actual stope geometry based on mining rules and optimization parameters. It’s especially useful when:

  • You want MSO to grow shapes outward from known zones.

  • You don’t want to manually define full stope extents.

  • You’re working with planning constraints that revolve around central drilling or infrastructure alignment.

Activity steps:

  1. Display the Framework screen.

  2. Expand Framework Type to select Advanced Framework, if not already selected.

  3. Expand Advanced Type and select Stope Seed Strings.

  4. Select a String File (...). This contains the seed strings. These strings represent the centerlines of stopes to be grown. The file must contain a field that denotes each seed string independently.

  5. Specify a Stope Number Field. This is a field from the string file used to differentiate each seed. Each unique value in this field defines a separate stope.

  6. Choose the Default value used when the selected field is missing or undefined for a particular string. Typically, this is set to 1.

  7. Save your settings.
