Configure Advanced Slice Framework
For Slice frameworks in MSO, you can define advanced settings. This is typically useful where you already know where you want stopes, and need MSO to help you refine what they should look like.

Tip: Expand the Manager sidebar to quickly compare framework settings between scenarios.
Note: The settings here relate specifically to slice frameworks. These settings are not available for Prism or Boundary frameworks.

Create or select an MSO scenario.

If not already defined, specify a block model.

Set up the run economics.

Define your framework orientation.

Display the Framework screen.

Expand Framework Type to select Advanced Framework, if not already selected.

Choose an Advanced Type. This reveals the main categories of advanced framework types available in MSO. Use the table below for more details on how to configure a particular advanced framework type:
Advanced Type Description Typical Use Case More Information Stope Face Polygons User-defined polygons (strings) representing the front face of each stope. MSO extrudes these into tubes based on additional parameters. Used when stope outlines are manually designed in plan or section. Configure Stope Face Polygons Stope Trapezoids Similar to face polygons, but allows for variation in top/bottom width—resulting in a trapezoidal cross-section. Used in shrink stoping or where stope width varies with elevation. Configure Stope Trapezoids Stope Quadrilaterals 4-point polygons that MSO uses to generate rectangular tubes. Useful for clean stope bounding without complex shapes. Highly structured deposits or mechanized layouts with rigid stope boundaries. Configure Stope Quadrilaterals Quad Strings Defines stope extents using two parallel strings (top and bottom edges of a stope face). MSO fills the space between them. Ideal for folded or steep ore zones where top and bottom boundaries are known. Configure Quad Strings Stope Seed Strings Strings representing the central axis of each tube. MSO generates stope shapes outward from these seeds using rules and extents. When users want to control tube centroids but let MSO determine overall geometry. Configure Stope Seed Strings Stope Seed Wireframes 3D wireframes representing seed volumes. MSO uses these as the starting point for growing stopes, often with annealing enabled. Complex ore zones where block model geometry isn’t enough; high control scenarios. Configure Stope Seed Wireframes Optimized Regular Automatically creates a regular framework, but still allows fine-tuning of control settings, extents, and tube parameters. When you want structure and automation with some customization. Optimized Regular (TBC) Complex Stope Shape Enables full definition of each stope tube using combined surface, string, and seed data.
