MSO Workflow

MSO guides you through a streamlined, intuitive sequence of steps aligned with modern mine design processes:

  • Create and Manage Scenarios (Manager screen)

    • Using the Scenarios group, users can manage multiple optimization cases, compare configurations, or open several instances for parallel design work.

    • Each scenario holds its own settings across all tabs (block model, economics, layout, etc.).

  • Configure Input Data (Block Models screen)

    • Select the input block model.

    • Define economic fields, density, reporting attributes, and material exclusions.

    • Apply bounding solids if needed.

  • Set Economic Parameters (Economics screen)

    • Choose the objective (maximize grade or value).

    • Define cut-off strategy (fixed, from block model, curve table).

    • Apply optional head grade filtering.

  • Set Up the Mining Framework (Orientation & Framework screen)

    • Define slicing or prism orientation (for Slice, Prism, or Boundary methods).

    • Choose framework method (Standard or Advanced).

    • Align with geological and operational constraints using extents, rotation, levels, and sections.

  • Define Geometry Rules (Shapes and Advanced screen)

    • Control stope width, dip, strike, and side ratios.

    • Refine with narrow ore, development shapes, sub-stope methods, and shape smoothing.

  • Apply Dilution and Post-Processing Rules (DilutionPost Processing screen)

    • Add overbreak (ELOS/VOS), smoothing, annealing, merging, splitting, and more.

    • Tailor stope outputs to your mine’s geotechnical realities.

  • Define Conditional Simulation Settings (Conditional Simulation screen).

    • Define the probability target.

    • Define conditional simulation fields.

    • Configure Multiple Indicator Kriging (MIK) settings.

  • Run Optimization (Run screen)

    • Add scenarios to the worker queue and monitor them in real-time.

    • Control concurrency using thread configurations.

    • Cancel or reprioritize runs on the fly.

  • Review and Export Results (Review screen)

    • Easily access wireframes, strings, reports, and block model outputs.

    • Use the Dashboard or log file to assess optimization health and quality.

  • Compare Scenarios (Summary screen)

    • Use the Summary feature in the Scenarios ribbon to quickly identify differences in scenario configurations.

This workflow ensures each scenario is configured, executed, and reviewed with traceability, from block model inputs through to final outputs.
