Create Packages Directly for a Despatch Order
This activity simplifies and consolidates the following activities:
- Creating a discrete units batch of packages (see Create a Discrete Unit Batch of Packages)
- Entering sample data for a discrete units batch (see Enter Sample Data for a Discrete Unit Batch)
- Assigning the packages to the despatch order (which otherwise could be done by associating the despatch order with a discrete unit movement such as loading a shipment, or with a package group)
The packages are created as a discrete unit batch. However, if more packages are created for the same batch later, those new packages are not automatically associated with the despatch order.
The original mass of packages can be edited in this screen. If the packing process flow has a sample template, MineMarket creates a sample for the batch. The analyte values of this sample can be edited in this screen.
The quality and mass of packages created for the despatch order impact the despatch order snapshot in the same way as any other packages associated with the despatch order. This means that the despatch order can be invoiced with these packages without needing to associate the despatch order with a discrete unit movement of the packages.
The packages that are created with this activity can subsequently be managed like any other packages. For example, they can be moved, loaded onto a despatch, repacked, deleted or rejected.
Security Note: You need the following security rights for this activity:
- Allow the user to maintain despatch orders in the Contracts domain security group
- Allow discrete unit maintenance in the Supply Chain user group security group
Activity Steps
- Open the Despatch Order.
- Select the Direct Loading tab.
- Select the Create Packages tab.
The Packages table has a summary row with totals for the masses, and weighted averages of displayed analytes. If the data is grouped by a selected column, one summary row displays for each group.
- Right-click in the Packages table and select New From Packing Template and then a packing template from the menu.
The Create Packages screen displays.
Note: The packing template defines the default Packing Process Flow, Source Stockpile, Destination Division, Package Type, Product, Number Of Units, Net Mass, Preserve Tare Mass, Tare Mass, Gross Mass, Mass UOM, Number Of Packages, Sample Template and Packing Sample Size. The package Location is determined from the packing process flow.
- Update the following fields if required.
- Packing Process Flow—Select from the packing process flows defined on the Supply Chain panel of the Solution Explorer.
- Source Stockpile—Select from the stockpiles at the source location of the packing process flow.
- Destination Division—Select from the divisions at the destination location of the packing process flow.
- Package Date
- Number Of Packages
- Packing Sample Size
- Click Create.
- To edit the name, number of units, net mass, gross mass or sample analyte values of multiple packages:
- Copy comma-separated data in a text editor or columns of data in an Excel spreadsheet.
- In the Packages table, right-click the column that corresponds to the first column of copied data of the first package to be edited and select Paste Values From Clipboard from the menu.
- If the copied data is ambiguous; for example, if the copied data has only 2 columns, but the package name was right-clicked, a confirmation dialog box displays. The column that was right-clicked is preselected. Select other columns into which to paste the data as required.
Important: Preserve Tare Mass functionality is disabled when data is pasted for the net mass or the gross mass. MineMarket recalculates the tare mass of each package based on the new values for the net mass and gross mass.
Note: The number of rows of data on the clipboard determines the maximum number of packages that are edited. If the bottom row of the packages table is reached, remaining rows on the clipboard are not used.
- To remove the association of a package with the despatch order without deleting the package:
- Select the Discrete Units Direct Loading tab.
- Find the package. See Associate Discrete Units Directly with a Despatch Order.
- Uncheck Selected for the package.
- Click Save.
