Network License Servers

Describing the role of the network license server

Network License Server

The Network License Server performs all licensing functions, including auditing and assigning access permissions to licenses. Licensed software may be run locally without the sever running, although it must be running to serve a license over a network, or to check-out a license to a laptop.

The following operating modes are possible:

  • Department Server - serves multiple licenses per product. Requires a key to activate it.

  • Enterprise Server - serves an unlimited number of licenses per product, and provides license security at a server, solution or license level. It requires a key to activate it.
